Is there a Shoe bank in swindon?
« on: September 26, 2009, 03:02:47 PM »
Hi
Does any one know whether there is a shoe bank where I can donate some of my old shoes?

Many Thanks!

Regards
Kiran

I am not sure of all the potential locations (can't find it on www.swindon.gov.uk) however there is a shoe bank in front of the newsagents in Rainer Close, Stratton Village.

There's also one in the Sainsbury's car park at Bridgemead (along with other recycling).

The council website directs people to www.recyclemore.co.uk which seems to be slightly broken.

Just found the Council's list, though no mention of shoe banks.

If they are still wearable , what about :

Charity shop ?
or something like the 'Love Russia charity'  - last year I think we had to send a pair of pants and a pound !

Take them to political gatherings and throw them at the speakers.

Double soled ammo boots for preference.

Ammunition boots, also known as ammo boots, were the standard footwear for the British Army in World War II. They were leather ankle-boots with dimpled uppers and sides and a brown leather sole with heel and toe irons and studs.

Ouchy.

That would be a Pampers protected zone.

Allegedly.

There was rumblings on Arrse, I think, around squaddies ex and serving, to roll up to Downing St and dump off a boot as a kind of protest.

Think the idea got binned as too risky. Fighting for liberty in a foreign land and unsure of your own at home, there's a country song in there somewhere.
