now it becomes clearer why Dougie wasn't selected to stand again at the May 4th election :

Now, more than a year since the complaint was made and Coun Stewart has stepped down from the council, the planning committee is to hear the case in secret.
Rather than hear the case in public at the council's planning committee meeting next Tuesday, the council has listed the affair to be heard after the public and press are excluded.
So why the secrecy over the case hearing? ???
-
presumably to show the true meaning of open and transparent local government.... :-X
I suspect that the report has been delayed by the Conservative Group as part of a damage limitation exercise so that the matter is not referred to the Standards Board. A former Councillor can't be referred to the Standards Board as I understand it.

So why the secrecy over the case hearing? ???
all hearings are in p&c session - always have been. was on the old style standards board in Swindon & cannot even tell you who was investigated

why?
Will there be any push by the Conservatives to change this and ensure more open and transparent local government?

The shed's to go...
http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/swindonnewsheadlines/display.var.799178.0.council_is_to_take_action_over_shed.php
TOWN planners will tell former Conservative councillor Douglas Stewart to apply for planning permission for an unauthorised shed in his Peatmoor back garden.
Well, not exactly going but Douggie needs to get planning for it.
The Adver carries a photo of said shed; looks to me a lot like a fancy extension

You could only get 'Shedgate' in Swindon, huh?
