Title: 'listed' buildings
Post by: Terry Reynolds on February 26, 2009, 01:44:33 PM
I had to go into town this morning and walked along corporation street, and noticed that the old bus depot offices, are still standing although what was attached either side and to the rear, has been pulled down, I presume this is because this bit is classed as a listed building, if so can anybody explain what it can be used for and I presume any building would have to be incorporated either side of this bit of 'rubbish', surely  there must be times when so called listed buildings are not worthy of being saved. perhaps they could let the homeless sleep in there!!.
have a nice day..

You presume wrong, I think you'll find it's still standing because it's an electrical substation.

I believe the facade has been saved because of the Coat of Arms in the brick work.

The coat of arms was saved according to the Adver but not the facade,  it was built into the part of the building to the left of what is still standing.

No idea where it's stored now though.
