Title: Parish council...
Post by: Terry Reynolds on July 15, 2017, 10:16:36 AM
Went to the north Swindon central parish meeting last Wednesday, and asked when our street was going to road swept, as it hasn't been done for around 2 years, one of the parish councillors, who is also a borough councillor, so hes getting paid twice for doing the same job, jumped up and ranted that it is done on a monthly basis, he also lives in the same street, sent him and the chairman around 14 pictures of the filthy condition of the gutters, and one of the worst is the house next door to him, and then the chairman sends me an email saying give it a rest, He should reign in his fellow councillors and ask them to check the length of their noses...... why do they need to tell lies is beyond me....

This is incredible, but have you written to the advertiser giving details of this story, I do not recall seeing one?

Which Borough Councillors are you referring to, and who is the Chairman of this Parish Council?

I'm not defending the council (they are mostly a bunch of incompetent layabouts), but I wonder if on street parking could be part of the problem. If the council have one road sweeper and claim to sweep the road once per month, it is going to be a flying visit. If there are parked cars when they visit it won't get done. Just a thought.

our street, like some others, during the day is mainly free of cars, there are some but not many that would cause the sweeper not to do a job, no this was just not done, that councillor was just covering his back, for not doing the job he's paid for and we the tax payers get fobbed off, utter disgrace.
I would ask about the precept payment that all Swindon residents are now paying for the non parish area, but I think I'm right in saying there isn't one, so someone is guilty of fraud, but if you ask, its matter closed, so wont ask.. :WTF:
The number of registered houses in Swindon, is now 94,374.  So that yearly payment of £25.45 by everybody is getting the council the sum of £2,401,818.30. Not bad for nothing , eh.... next election is in May....
