Rm 101. Misc. Odds and Ends / Re: Council TAX..

I can understand if someone is exempt due to disability etc, but if someone fails to pay, then they should be taken to court and the money retracted that way, no way should we have to pay for defaulters.
pay my tax now by direct means and have had it confirmed now that I can pay by cash payment, which I will do in future..

Well of course it's going to include an amount to cover any shortfall.

Some will be due to people not paying their CT, and some will be due to expected monies not coming in because a household becomes CT exempt or entitled to a discount.  Here's a list of all the different exemptions https://www.swindon.gov.uk/info/20020/council_tax/18/council_tax_exemptions

I, was informed some time ago, that the make up of our council taxes, includes an amount to cover the amounts that the council didn't collect last year.  I asked the council for confirmation of this fact, and today, after many requests, I have received a reply from the leader, which he states the collection rate o other councils, also says that this council is better than most, but then fails to even answer the question I asked, I was surprised he didn't use his usual quote, 'matter closed', but hey, we all have big pockets to pay off their incompetence...    :WTF:

If you want to stop the parish council putting up their precept payment next year, go to this site and sign the gov petition and hope it gets enough support:

Some interesting developments.

Firstly Labour replied to say although they are pushing back on some of the transfer of service provision they have gone in high on the precept because it may get capped later and we are at the 'bare bones' already. Pah!

The Liberal Democrats are campaigning to cut the precept in the Monster Parish and to try and break away their Liberal statelet of Eascott into its own Parish. Not sure how realistic that is.

Regenerating Swindon / Re: Oasis redevelopment

Hello to you OOT, good to see you on here, bit of a sad site now, hardly any generation of topics now, but as for your comments, yes its still the same, SBC still up to no good, perkins still ranting about this and that  and doing nothing, and meanwhile the tax payers money goes out the door. the latest 'scheme' of this council is to now build their own houses, but they don't have a building firm, so guess they will get someone to do the job for them at a cost, and then no doubt rip off begins again...
take care.. :coffee:

Having seen the back of Ricki Hunt & his chum Dennis Grant, I have been up to other things & have been busy now for a couple of years. Today my thoughts went back to the Oasis development & another pie in the sky, the "working village" to be built at the old Cotswold Community site, near Ashton Keynes. So I checked in here to see what was being said about the Oasis. No change then???? How unexpected!!!! ))))

the delay is due, they say, to the no of extra flats this new lot want to build on the site, and getting agreement, without making it look bad for the council..
