election fraud......
« on: March 30, 2014, 08:30:59 PM »
Mrs Martin, who is standing for shaw in the next local elections has put up a picture on facebook, it shows the roadway outside the entrance to the bamptons in shaw, and she asks what are the council doing about the yellow markings on the road, why hasn't it been repaired.
As her husband is one of the councillors for the ward, shouldn't she have asked him first, or the lad who is also councillor for the ward, who works in paris..

Now why would Mrs Martin not want to ask her husband about this issue?  After all he has been a Shaw Councillor since the 1990's, so is it reasonable to expect him to look after a bus route outside The Bramptons?

With her high pressure job that takes her all over the place and stops her attending meetings such as the West Swindon Forum who will have to deal with her casework should she be elected?

Er Simple really

Her husband Mayor Nick, of course

or is it a case of what our Nick said to me at the West Swindon Forum when I pointed out her absence, "that she doesn't need to be there".

I think that Swindon has seen enough of passenger Councillors who do the minimum and are not around to attend meetings, but as my dear old Daddy used to say we get the Representation We Deserve so if you want another Swindon Husband and Wife team in Swindon vote for Mary Martin on May 22nd!!

Ummmm... Might get shot down for this, but here goes:

Asking silly rhetorical questions in your electoral literature might be daft... But it's not fraud is it? Isn't that an OTT thing to imply?

I reckon effective criticism has to be tempered by being realistic and fair.
I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it - [attributed to] Voltaire... 'Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessita' - William of Occam.... 'You have a right to feel offended, but just cos you are offended doesn't mean you are right'

Tobes, being the mail reader that I am, and seeing life as a different thing from you, that woman is trying to gain a seat on the council on the back of such actions as her facebook insertion, that to me is fraud, but I will give way as they say, so from now on Ill refer it as the election hypocrite... how's that..

Fraud: artifice by which the right or interest of another is injured ; deception.. :WTF:

In this instance it may be that Mrs Martin is reacting to the South Swindon Labour Website http://southswindonlabour.co.uk/ which has an article on there about the very topic being discussed here.

In the interests of balance  I also looked at the Swindon Conservative Web site ( it's supposed to be about the borough?.. too much on the national front?) .. the North Swindon Labour site ( what's going on there.. or not?) and the Lib Dems.. mmmm.  Research continues...

Reading the South Swindon Labour website (whoever is managing this is doing a good job... easy to read .. local issues.. ) it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what might be the next topics raised by Conservative Candidates in Shaw. Or anywhere else in South Swindon for that matter.

It will be interesting to see quite how Cllrs Perkins and Ellis represent matters in their wished for wards too..

I'm not sure about fraudulent statements but I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of daft and easily demolished protestations spewing forth in the coming weeks.

It takes wisdom to know what you know and wisdom to know what you don't know and when to call in those who do. Often the people who do know will advise that evidence and research are very helpful when making decisions. Who knows it might even save a bit of money.
