its back to the old doom and gloom days, no manager, no team worth having, wouldn't mind a bet, to say that after October, well be proping up the league table.... wonder if they will sell the ground, for housing now, the council that is...

Sale of the ground to the club for football purposes might be possible. The ward councillors have recently made statements to the council against the type of development you are concerned about.

Our concerns were also raised by Forward Swindon and members of the Administration placing the outline of a potential Hotel next to the Magic Roundabout. Some of you may be aware there is a covenant on the land for sports and recreation related development not housing.

Ah, a covenant.

Nothing to worry about then ......
Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don’t know what your rights are, or who the person is you’re talking to. Then, on the way out, slam the door.

Lots to worry about, already been told a number of times that they can be overcome. Two previous attempts were made to either put a road through or to build houses. Both were rebuffed with community involvement. The local community have produced a local plan with the councils planning department which specifically seeks to keep the limited green space in the area.

"Covenant".  A flexible term in the hands of a malleable and highly interpretive borough solicitor.

Land covenanted to Swindon Borough Council is no longer safe.
