Under a bridge?

It's fairly peaceful in The Adver columns at the moment and I don't think it's all down to the good weather

With regards to the green bag collections, I am afraid to say that, as I am aware ... the Tories have only ever really, in truth, given residents one quite useful service ... the green bag collections. They have taken, taken and taken again, and under the guise of upping the recycling figures and fighting Global Warming etc., this was quite a major percentage of what used to go in the the old dustbin and then the black bag household waste. Residents, in the main, do their duty by cleaning out and saving in the correct ways, their plastics, bottles, jars, cans, paper, cardboard, old clothes, amongst other old dustbin items, but not aerosols as they leave them in the orange box! Is it not reasonable, taking an average of green bags per Council Tax payment residence across the Borough, to supply this service as it was? It is just a means of getting rid of more staff in the pension scheme ... be honest ... Swindon Tory Council!!

They cost us non-dog owners far more in collecting dog mess than the service of unlimited green waste collections.

One reason why you lot are going to lose Haydon Wick heavily ... RB cannot canvass for you now! Untrustworht Tory party as ever!

Morsey

I completely agree about the green bag collections.

The basis for a council tax based on property value as opposed to the per capita poll tax, was the argument that those in larger properties use more services. However, you get one wheelie bin, two orange boxes and 2 green bags per week regardless of whether you live in a Band A or Band H property.

Surely it is more environmentally friendly for the council to collect all of my green bags, than it is for them to collect 2 and leave me to drive across town and sit in a queue at the tip with the engine running to dispose of the other 2.

The old system where you could buy green sacks from the council for £1 was better than the current system. A PAYG service is better than half a service.

Has anyone got any copies of the election Leaflets so they can be displayed here please?

If, as reported, Olive is using the REX card we can show it for what it is!!

The Labour party asked for a September date for the by-election. 70% of the country go on holiday during the school holidays. Not sure what that will do to the voting numbers, it will affect things and it does not help to get communities engaged in democracy.

The one through our door was in the form of an A5 two-sided letter, so say handwritten, and the previous exponent of the art of self-promotion was exalted by the minion as some kind of icon of whom he will wish to emulate! Does that mean his fizog will be daily displayed in the Sadver? Now, that's a reason NOT to vote for him for a start, surely? :D Sorry, but I guess my wife binned it?

Can you please share it with us Morsey?

If, you, yourself cannot scan it I know a man who can if indeed my new printer scanner cannot assist.  Please advise.

I hope the Labour Party are signing people up for Postal Votes then Bob?

It should not then influence the result!

Still very peaceful in the adver columns.

Many "characters" are missing.
Wonder why that is ::)

Might take a plunge on a couple of topics

Hi all, for my sins I am standing as the Lib Dem candidate in this by-election. I grew up in Abbey Meads/Haydon Wick and went to school there. Haven't been politically active in Swindon to date, but have campaigned with the Lib Dems elsewhere. I'm a non-exec Director of a local CCTV company. Feel free to checkout my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/SeanDaveyLD and let me know if you have any questions! Cheers Sean

Not sure if I'll be speaking yet Richard, will follow the debates and see how it goes. It's quite a long agenda, but I'll have to absent myself for Item 9.
See you Thursday!
