Cabinet Responsibilities
« on: October 18, 2012, 05:49:26 PM »
I found this a little intriguing

http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/9992918.Builders_fined_thousands_for_illegal_adverts_at_Swindon_Magistrates_Court/

Builders fined thousands for illegal adverts in East Wichel

It wasn't because the builders were warned, but continued to advertise

It wasn't because they got fined whilst there must be far greater issues to deal with

I was intrigued because apparently there is a position of
"Cabinet Member for a Safer, Stronger Borough"

Really?

What other positions are there?

Is there a "Cabinet Member for a Sprawlier Sprawly Town" ?

Maybe a "Cabinet Member for Designing Square Paving Slabs"

How about "Cabinet Member for Grey Creations"?

Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don’t know what your rights are, or who the person is you’re talking to. Then, on the way out, slam the door.

Now.. if SCS or Class Solutions or SBC or WHF stick a sign at the Croft School to say brought to you by.?? at ?? of the cost in ?? of the time.... will said Cabinet Member be out in force?

Or Could there be a new Cabinet Role for Shed Sales?
It takes wisdom to know what you know and wisdom to know what you don't know and when to call in those who do. Often the people who do know will advise that evidence and research are very helpful when making decisions. Who knows it might even save a bit of money.

Probably, especially as all these vanity projects have to paid for by some means or other!!

and Colin Lovell being the quietest Councillor on SBC is the ideal man to oversee it all.

I think I ought to start a thread about the article in today's paper.

Hardly at least IDS has something to say Richard.

I know I would not want Colin to be my ward Councillor as I am lead to believe he was very inactive in Moredon which is probably why he bailed out last May.  Mind you they said that of Derique Montaut, Margaret Caton and Jim d'Avila before him so............ ::)

Maureen Caton wasn't inactive, unless she was towards the end of her Cllr ship.  Though knowing Maureen, maybe more active for the council housing/tenants in her ward. Got to know Maureen better when she worked on Penhill for a couple for years back in the late 80's.

Jim D'avila was pretty inactive in our ward, (but we had three councillors then, and the other two were always about) but not inactive in the  council.  i.e. He let the other two get on with ward work whilst he progressed his career on higher things. He was there when we needed him for that.

Both, of course, very long serving/elected.
Oi! Listen mush. Old eyes, remember? I’ve been around the block a few times. More than a few. They’ve knocked down the blocks I’ve been around and rebuilt them as bigger blocks. Super blocks. And I’ve been round them as well.  The Doctor (Night Terrors)

Thank you ICDT for that correction I had a senile moment!!

As for these Labour Councillors I do believe their demise in the old Moredon Ward was exacerbated by the perception that they did little in their wards.  It is even more interesting that having played on that perception the Conservatives did exactly the same thing save Steph Exell and we all know what happened to her when she got 'off message'.
