Nice shot of the volcano. Many a happy last hour on a  Friday afternoon spent talking about life and stuff. While the foreman drove around trying to find us. O0

There was something on the radio about this last week, basically the water companies have no choice but to say there is no problem with water as they are under a legal obligation to provide water.

I now have it in written word that at a meeting with said councillors, it was declared that the council will do the refurbish work on the open space at picards field and then the builders would repay them the amount (said to be £1.2 million), at a later date......

The above quote is a post  from Kohima that he posted on tha Shaw farm thread today. Perhaps it is more suited here?

What sort of refurbish work, on an open space, will cost £1.2 million?

Dig up wild flowers and hedgerows and trees,  put in county class cycle route - 3 metres wide and lit, plant wildflower meadow with flowers purchased/sourced from Holland and hold community event to plant trees and plant hedgerow with british native species bought from Holland.  Put in play equipment - simple. If there is something left over a couple of seats, litter bins and a couple of years maintenance.
Oi! Listen mush. Old eyes, remember? I’ve been around the block a few times. More than a few. They’ve knocked down the blocks I’ve been around and rebuilt them as bigger blocks. Super blocks. And I’ve been round them as well.  The Doctor (Night Terrors)

How the feck do you refurbish an open space and at 1.2m what's the cost per square yard?

Could we not pave it in gold to confuse impoverished Northerners?

The untrained eye could be forgiven for seeing this as a circuitous way of finagling a backhander. Cut the grass and trouser 1.2m for facilitation of helpful stuff (I've set my b@stard keyboard up Yankee style apparently, no pound signs. Nasty run-in with a computer munching piece of crap some spotty anorak wearing socially inadequate scrote wrote. Your day will come when Obama comes a'knocking sonny).

I wouldn't say any of that though I've a nagging urge to be called vile, but it would be a baseless piece of speculation.

Mind you to experienced turd polishers empty ground refurbishment is but the work of a moment.
Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don’t know what your rights are, or who the person is you’re talking to. Then, on the way out, slam the door.

Mat, I wrote to Bluh and asked about the scheme in Bridgewater, where the 'sea wall' fell down, it has taken over 4 months of heavy engineering to remove/recover/repair the said wall and the total cost for this is put at £1.2 million, so I asked for a comparrison, and what are they going to refurbish the land with, apart from gold bricks etc. I am still waiting for a reply..

Maybe the water could be piped from the Croft?

It'll have to go somewhere...

Now that would be a project for SCS would it not?
It takes wisdom to know what you know and wisdom to know what you don't know and when to call in those who do. Often the people who do know will advise that evidence and research are very helpful when making decisions. Who knows it might even save a bit of money.

Oh, I wondered yessterday at a time when things are so hard and SBc are strapped for cash, why they should choose this time to do bank 'refurbishmen't to the Haydon Brook through Penhill Playing Fields and the 7F's?

Although the water runs the other way  i.e. Whitworth Road on through Haydon Wick , on into the Ray and eventually to the Thames, maybe they are going to syphon some off in the other direction.

Although come to think of it, dont the higher reaches of the Hreod Burna run right through Pickards Fields - so add 'stream enhancement' to the costs!
