Jennyb,
things arent what they should  be and time will prevail, if anything does come up good, you wont read it on here, but if next May the Labour Party take over, then you will see the better life, buildings will go up overnight, things like the whale bridge roundabout, will also go up in a day, no road closures overnight or the like, no more building of houses despite the national policy of approx 30,000 houses in the region not so long ago, the lights will be on forever and a day with no thought of costs, no more empty retail or building blocks for ages, (A1 at S Marston has been empty for at least 6 years, but what the worry, even your bulding will be taken down and built elsewhere, if at all. and of course the council tax will never be increased beyond 3%...  I wonder if they will allow even more bars and food outlets in Regent Street. sweet dreams....... And you may have to wait 18 years for the next Library.. :santa_wink:

I do not know who writes the tosh that is published by these poor and ineffective councillors..

It could be The same one who writes Christmas messages and weekly columns  and then possibly has it checked over by Kohima? :2funny:

To get back on thread… The Croft Proposal is the latest poor and ineffective decision made on poor and ineffective data by poor and ineffective councillors.

Old Town has the unique honour of having all 3 W.Cs of this calibre.

It is being said in another place that two of those Old Town calibre WCs will chicken run and be replaced by two of renowned Tory calibre.

No I live in a world I like but is run by those who do as they please as and when it suits them,  (put laugh caption here GS,)  Did anybody from the other parties actually try to block the planning application, or did they all vote for it, or 'abstain'!
I dont agree with a lot and agree with other points,
It seems here if you do a thing your slagged off and if you dont, your still slagged off,
I dont read or oversee any messages or weekly columns, Ill let those in better life styles do that, you make such comments but you never mentiond anything about my comments, perhaps GS, will confirm how long we had to wait for the new library to be built under the last Labour council.(try 18 years).
We had an example of Labour thinking last week when C Montaut, complained in the adver about the state of the diving board at Coate, which as stood there in that state for at least 15 years, what did his lot do about that - zilch.  :santa_wink: happy days...

Kohima, have you ever entertained the idea that its possible for a majority of councillors from both parties to be CRAP?

Yes, that vote confirmed that, as did the postering of Montaut.

Then stop misconstruing an attack of a tory councillor as a de facto endorsement of Labour...

But Kohima, why don't you ever promote and talk about the things you think Swindons Conservatives have got right?  I know there aren't many to pick from, but I'm sure you can find something good to say on their behalf?....

...but, once again I don't think it's fair of you to criticise other members for not doing something you don't bother doing yourself....

...and I notice that your tweets are similarly absent of praise for the Conservatives but packed to the gunwhales with anti-labour sentiment :)

e.g:

I hope you're not going to make a habit of stalking Lady Councillors like Rochelle just to harangue them are you?

By the way, it was Labour councillors who sorted out the money for the Central New Library  :santa_afro:

Hey T I think you ought to buy a new pair of trainers for next May's elections as you will need to help your friend Nick the ****  get re elected as I have it on good authority that Labour intend to hit Shaw & Nine Elms HARD this time.

With three Cabinet Members in situ they believe they could even win a seat or two!!

I wasnt 'stalking' anybody, just giving a comment on someone else thread, if you think they did such a good job with the money, (was that why they said the c tax had to rise like it did), why didnt they even put in planning details for the new library, why did it take 18 years to get it sorted,  as for running shoes, I wont be out there, Im sure Geoff and his tally of new labour candidates will do the job,   I ll just watch the flow and then sit back as my c tax rises.......oh and all the rest, bullding, empty units etc.

As an after thought, the lady in question put up a thread on twitter, slagging of the tories, so I replied with the same for Labour, surely that cant be put up as 'stalking', or is she like the other lady who puts up comments and then cries wolf when someone says something she doesnt like.., and why didnt she put in a reply, or is Geoff the new Tsar for Labour in Swindon....
good things to come to mind, the new shopping centres around the town, ie Penhill, walcot, etc,
general council work, ie bins etc,
roads around here that have ben repaired.
new schools built.
the new library.
the revised area around W Swindon and lydiard Park
the new bus depot.
the new proposed bus station and new car park.......

Unfortunately Kohima, there is a many slip between the funded getting and planning of something and the time it is actually built or achieved.

Most of what you listed was funding found and planned in Labours day.

Or as is more often the case, planned for many years ago by officers etc... Only for Councillors to claim credit at the much later date.

The 18 years is a questionable timeframe,  the county ran Libraries in (Thamesdown) Swindon between April 1974 and April 1997. I believe the Tories held the majority on the county between the years 1974-1997 I wonder  why the Tory run  county did not deliver the library for Swindon over a 23 year period?

I don't think it matters what the county did or did not do or what Swindon council did or did not do. I do not think Geoff is a Czar or that any politician would cry wolf when batting for their own side, regardless of gender.

How has the council paid for the new shopping centres in Penhill Or Walcot? Or Cavvy Square? Did it pay for the new bus garage? Is this how the tens of millions of debt have been racked up by the Tory cabinet?

Croft school in a box now that is beginning to look  as dodgy as a wifi project, if the government have given SBC the money for the school where has that money gone? Has councillor Renard hoovered it up to balance his budget as he has form for that as TS threads report.

It could have been invested in a vision in a station forecourt or Whalebridge for all we know  :fish:

Croft school has indicated that project management and involvement with WCs is a pattern that appears to be reminicient of searching through rock pools. After every tide they may contain clear water, but what is hiding in the cracks and under the weed?

So the rebuild of the shops at Penhill and Walcot were all planned by the then Labour Council eh... they had all the plans for the library in place, just didnt do anything about the actual application etc.
Well be told next that they paid for it as well, as they claimed for the new schools, when it was the good old PFI schemes once again,
Rochelle, I just posted a reply to your 'ramblings', like your lady friend, when someone replies and it is not liked then it is called what you say or the poster claims he or she cant read what I write.
Steve, isnt the provision of such items as Libraries down to the local council, not the county council, still pass the buck. and that was down to the local council, who we  are told, made all the plans, made all the financial plans, I think they even supplied the alternate buildings, ie the good old 'temporary huts', and then sat back for the time period and didnt do anything actual about it..... :santa_wink:

Sorry forgot, as well as thanking the councillor, who back in what 2002, when Labour last had majority rule, put all those plans in for the shopping centres mentioned, also had the forsight to put in the plans for the demise of the Bulldog on Queens drive and the shops behind and plan for the regeneration there also, we can blame him for the regeneration in the town centre as well........

K,

I do wish that you would confine these diatribes elsewhere.  I thank the administrator for moving this off.

The Croft is a significant issue for Old Town Residents and for the many parents who will be forced by SBC to travel and fill this misguided school.

Please do not confuse or pollute this issue with the many political gripes you appear to have from time immemorial.

Thank you
