There's a rather lovely programme on British apple growing on BBC4 here:

Ity even has a go at explaining the rise of the 'Golden Delicious', a tastless ball of lime green mashed potato which all but put me off apples as a child.

I think this was a very successful event. Thank you to everyone who came along to help out, to the members of the public who brought fruit to be pressed into juice (including the family who brought two wheelbarrows full of apples and left with six gallons of juice), and special thanks to the nice people at Lower Shaw Farm for hosting this event.
I made a short film to record the day.

Any community groups interested in borrowing SCAN's new apple juicing kit to hold a similar event next year, please get in touch.

I liked the way everyone who came, mucked in stalking and cutting up the apples for pressing, non stop all day. I did loads of useful networking.
The children were loving helping with the juicer.
