I know this is nothing to do with the riots etc, but gives an example of how the police work, when there is a repatriation, there is a crowd of us who go to the police station at Gablecross, with our standards etc and pay our respects, we have been doing this now for nearly two years and next week it will end and they will go through the back gate of Brize Norton.  two weeks ago when we went to go up to the police canteen, where we meet the next police crews who take the hearse etc up to Oxford, when they go out to their cars and bikes, then it is time for us to go out also and stand at the kerbside.  When we went to go into the police sation two weeks ago, a man who we hadnt seen before came out in uniform, a high ranker, and told us it was a police sation and not a canteen and we were barred from going up to the canteen, this after nearly two years, and it is now all but ended, some respect they have for us and what we were doing..

That's such a shame Kohima, have you written to anyone to ask why?

Kohima perhaps they thought you were some kind of political terrorist and decided to banish you before you and prudence attacked an officer with a rosette.

To be honest I'm glad that the police station isn't being used as a free house, they should all be about on the beat not mincing around the station but with the potential of 16,000 front line cuts flashing in their faces maybe prudence has had a chat with them about the conservatives? Even after the riots their still going to be out of a job.

Subsidised canteen, budget cuts etc. I expect   A bit silly when surely they must have known what you were doing and that it'd be coming to an end very soon.

Where I used to work (nearly two decades ago) used to have a subsidised canteen and was regularly used by PC and traffic wardens - no one cared (apart from the people who'd parked on double yellows outside).

Ben, as I said, we have been doing this for nearly two years, so if they did think any bad of us, its a bit late in the day, and we dont carry rosettes, just standards etc, prudence wouldn't come here anyway, lets face it he is still sulking after the last election, and finds it hard to even go to the house of commons, who pay his wages, so no chance of him coming here, mind you there is a gold shop in town..
as for the lads who will loose their jobs, the numbers are such I wouldnt even comment on the numbers, lets wait until it happens, perhaps prudence will come up with a brain wave and spend a few more bob and keep them in office.
I agree that they should be out on the streets, wonder who brought in all that paper work for them.
As a further comment on how we were treated, we collected over £80, to purchase a tablet, to record that we have been paying our respects outside the station, and have requested permission to put it on the wall, by the front door, we are still awaiting permission..
also, I did report it to the adver, but have you seen any report, ...not

£80 good effort I second muggins idea. At least it will be used to aid the mistakes of labour.

I think the idea of a plaque is a bit selfish considering the money could be used to help injured soldiers.

ANYWAY back to topic, Imsuprised your not going to comment on the potential job losses within the police force, but I'm pretty sure policing by paperwork started in Majors government, Blair made it worse...dunno what brown did, cameron promised to put the bobby's back on the street but I didn't think he was going to be so literal with that idea.

Policing is no longer the heart of the community, de-moralised coppers is a very very bad thing, I remember in newbury when I was about 7 or 8 there was a copper that lived on my estate and he was always about, nice as pie, always respected....old school coppering, that's what needs to come back

Ben, many things, the money we have collected for the tablet, will be given to the RBL if the tablet is not purchased, but hope that sense will prevail and we get it posted, as for coppers on the beat etc, if you can remember back a good few months, I reported on here, that my grandson had been beaten up while sitting on a park bench by some morons out for a laugh, when we went to the police sation, they looked at the cctv films, said they knew the culprits, but thought that any chance of a prosecution would fail, as they were known criminals and so a case against them would fail, dont understand that reasoning, but that is how we were left at the end of the day, so you can see why our respect for them is zero,
When my allotment shed was burned down, about 4 years ago, it took the police a week to come and take a statement from me.
Several years ago, when I was returning to Swindon from Reading on a Sunday dinner time, I was hit by a police car that was going the wrong way around the roundabout, which was in front of the police hq, I went into the hq and registered a complaint, which the duty Sgt wrote on a waste piece of paper, and then told me that the policeman was on an urgent duty and so was allowed to go the wrong way around the island, in fact, he was going to the car park opposite the hq, no case was brought against him and I never heard another word, although I wrote the police chief in Thames Valley, nothing.
Im sure you can tell me hundreds of stories with the police in the good side of life, but respect is respect, and they have  a long way to go, if in doubt, re watch the riots and watch them watching the nutters doing the damage.

Just had this through on the old community network - looks like an handy piece of work, although my first complaint to them is why the heck they have to make it all so fancy that when printed out in balck and white, it can hardly be read.   

I have however struggled and managed to read the 'Feral Underclass or Feral Overclass' article and I like it! Can't wait to be abel to read the rest.
