It's a funny thing....I have yet to meet a Father who has even the slightest interest in 'Fathers Day'....

.... which would be better described as 'Another Day Sponsored By Hallmark Cards' I think.

Mothering Sunday is lovely enough in it's own way.....but don't most good parents deserve a little more from their offspring than Tesco's flowers and a card once a year ?

I've never been able to discover what happened in the Wilderness on the 4th Sunday after Easter that marked this day as Mothering Sunday.
Perhaps nothing.....
But I do know that 'our' floating Mother's day confuses others that have a Mother's day on a fixed date annually.
As a mother, I find Mothering Sunday horribly contrived and feel a pang for those for whom it's a special day.
And let me say for mothers everywhere that a daisy chain is far preferable to flowers from Tesco which which are worsted only by flowers from a garage.

If we don't use local speciality shops like florists ( and book shops ) we'll lose them.
