Last night, whilst at the Civic it was busy lots of people there talking about Northview School being closed as well as Wifi. I overheard a conversation as I was leaving the building from a group of people that the conservatives were choosing their candidate for Highworth that night ( I am not sure it was only a snatch of the conversation).  I do apologise for repeating  unsubstantiated gossip. [I thought it was due next week] If, and I say if, that is the case anyone know the result? ;)

I thought it was John Short who was up for election.

Surely the Tories are not going to dump him as well?

John is a hard working councillor.

could it be Steve Weisinger?

Steve has been Mayor of Highworth and a long standing Town Councillor he is a good un too.

If there is a selection for their candidate then it will be tough. Anyway nothing on here from the people that would be in the know yet ;)

I heard last week from 2 prominent tory councillors that it would be Steve the ex mayor of Highworth and John Short is not a happy bunny.

John Short is not a happy bunny.

Maybe he might be persuaded to stand as an independent, if this does actually happen?

John Short was re-selected to contest the Highworth seat, this will be his first re-election campaign, having been first elected to represent Highworth in 2006.

Highworth has a very active branch so they have a proper selection meeting and AGM each time.  :coffee:

How interesting, a few people got this one wrong then?

Maybe it was a case that there are so many 'waves' about that the Cons couldn't cope with yet another.

 or........

Maybe the good people of Highworth have already been microwaved.   ooops that's not far from where I live!

Do I need to be concerned?

Isn't Steve Weisinger Cllr Foley's boyfriend/partner/whatever ?, I bet she's pissed off politically but quite pleased personally - Now she's not in Blus cabinet-within-a-cabinet, and will soon be out of the outer-cabinet as well.....she'll have more time to devote to the more rewarding things in life  :)

Someone remind me which one is a Mason - Is it Steve Weisinger or John Short?

If you want to know what councillors are Masons look at their declarations of interest on the council web site. That is if they are all as honest as David Glaholm

My concern is not so much who is a mason, but who else is? where else are they? Within those those they mix with both internally and externally. And why they feel the need to be?
Oi! Listen mush. Old eyes, remember? I’ve been around the block a few times. More than a few. They’ve knocked down the blocks I’ve been around and rebuilt them as bigger blocks. Super blocks. And I’ve been round them as well.  The Doctor (Night Terrors)

Councillors are no longer required to register their membership of Masonic Lodges unless they belong to a charitable arm like the grand lodge.
