Swindon’s Own Outdoor festival comes back in 2009 in massive style

As Swindon is revelling in the aftermath of Europe’s largest FREE outdoor festival, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, the organisers of Swindon Invincible are pleased to announce that this year’s festival is bigger and better than last year, with some amazing international acts lined up to help again put Swindon on the map.

Billed as the Ultimate Dance Music Festival Swindon Invincible stages some of the best live acts from the world’s dance music scene in Swindon’s live music gem, the Old Town Bowl.

2008 saw this event sell out and over 1200 revellers enjoyed over 8 hours of incredible music from world known acts such as the Freestylers and Crazy P but also supported by local acts like the Beatbullyz, now of Radio 1 introducing fame.

2009 sees the anti upped even higher with DJ Yoda, One of Britain's most admired, original club DJs and an AV pioneer, bringing his new Visual set to Invincible as part of his new tour.

“This is an incredible coup for Swindon as Yoda as been at the forefront of hip hop and dance music for many years and when he said he wanted to bring his new visual show, we were over the moon. This is something unique for the South West.” Commented event organiser Vince Mancari.

Joining DJ Yoda is Adam Freeland, bringing his live band with electronic grooves with shoe gaze guitars, real drums, and actual song writing tracks, that beg to be played live and detonate the dance floor.

“Adam will add something completely different to the day with a live set that will get the crowds going but be again a visual treat as we see some top quality musicians perform.” Added Vince.

Top club promoters in Swindon are once again lined up for the Battle in the bowl II - the rematch - Elektrophonik vs Kandifunk. Last years saw Elektrophonik come out on top but this year will see more of a live element that will set the bowl alight with musical talent.

This year’s Invincible festival is sponsored by the Best of Swindon. Simon Pitts-Drake from the Best of commented, “I was lucky enough to be at the Radio 1 Big Weekend and saw the reaction of the crowds to some top acts, I agreed to be involved in Swindon Invincible even before I knew the Big weekend was coming to Swindon as this is Swindon’s premier outdoor festival, run by people in Swindon, it includes Swindon acts, whilst bringing top quality acts that Swindon has never seen before. The Ultimate Dance Festival is its name and it is just that and something that Swindon should be proud of…it is the best in Swindon”.

Swindon Invincible is run in partnership with Swindon Borough Council as part of their Bowl Concert series.

Tickets go on sale on the first of July and can be bought from Swin City Comics and the Swindon Arts Centre. For your chance of getting your tickets early register now online at www.swindoninvincible.co.uk.

On Saturday 20th August 2011 Swindon Invincible Festival will be taking over the MECA in Swindon and giving you a party in the true Invincible style. This follows decisions by the Promoters to downscale the event and move from Lydiard Park to an indoor venue due to the economic climate.

Promoter Steve Causer commented: "We are in a current economic situation that means we have to downscale the Swindon Invincible Festival. It is important that we look at the future of the event and how to ensure what has been one of the most refreshing festivals on the Electronic Dance circuit in the Southwest can rise once again and maintain the many accolades it has achieved over the last 3 years. This is why we have made this choice so that the audiences that have bought tickets right across the country and all our home based fans can still enjoy an amazing night of great dance music. We?d like to send our thanks and love to all musicians, artists, crew and fans that have been involved".

The Event organisers have stipulated that all those who have bought tickets to this years event should hold on to their tickets and in the next 7 days they will announce full details of the process of exchanging tickets for the MECA event. If they do not want to take up the offer they will get a full refund of the face value of the ticket from the point of purchase.

Full details on acts and the MECA event will be announced shortly.
