UK Corporate Games in Swindon (2-4 June 2006)
« on: May 12, 2006, 01:31:41 PM »
Here's the link to the councils information:
http://www.swindon.gov.uk/leisuresport/corporategames.htm

And the official site:
http://www.corporate-games.com/newweb/eng_pages/gamesinformation.asp?GAMESID=95&LANGUAGEID=1

If you are free that weekend it might be worth popping along and giving the local participants some support :)

I went along to Lydiard but not really to watch the games. It was very busy and the perfect weather! The lake's now been opened too and looks stunning :D

Well 6000 competitors all needed somewhere to sleep for 1, if not both nights so I imagine a fair bit of it was there. Plus food, social life etc etc

I found out on the releases from SBC, also it was announced on BBC Swindon on Friday

The money was the amount put into the local economy.  Anyone else in Old Town on Sat night would have seen the extra people there (odd sight of people in black tie in a queue for a kebab shop).  Also, hotel rooms were hard to come by

The new Golf course at Salthrop had it's busiest w.end ever.
The major Swindon courses being occupied with competitors, so the benefit cascaded ( word?) down to organisations not involved in the games.
Seems like a good deal all round.
Well done to the organisers.
