Old Town Gardens

Great Music, Great Fun, Great Food......really looking forward to getting off the diet for the day and seeing a few other TS members wandering about  :)

Disabled parking - For holders of Blue Badges:

I've queried the provision of disabled parking for the Mela because the map below shows disabled parking as being available only in Quarry Road.

Liz Lavender from SBC tells me:

Quote
disabled parking for blue badge holders is on Quarry rd, parts of Westlecott, Springfield & Croft roads but it is limited

My advice to my fellow crips is to get there early  O0

Can't go this year.

Gutted.

For those who haven't been, it is a top do.

Previous commitment - won't make it.  Will you post us poor unfortunates a bit of a review afterwards to make up for missing it?

I'm planning to go.

Top tip get there early (ie before 12) otherwise be  queuing up for an hour at various food stalls!

Ditto. I intend to arrive early, grab some food, wander (quickly) round the stalls then settle in the bowl for the music. To be honest, I think the success of the Mela is such that it needs a bigger venue.

I asked about that.

The organisers feel that if they move the Mela from the OT Gardens it will lose ambience. I'll be interested to see whether it feels more crowded this year than last.

OT Gardens is definitely a very nice venue, but long queues and difficult pinch-points (such as the steps near the bandstand) are an ambience the Mela could well do without. The problem is, if not OT Gardens, where could it go? The Lawn perhaps, but parking control would be difficult. I'd like it to remain somewhere fairly central, but the choices are very limited.

There was some talk after last year to make it a weekend event over Saturday and Sunday.
