Hey to you all....just wanted to invite you all to a gig tomorrow (Thursday29th) at the 12 Bar on Westcott Place. We have been running a battle of the bands on the Frequency radio show (every Sunday...if you have been tuning in).

The whole point is to do the normal BOTB in a different way that allows bands to be showcased across a whole range of mediums as well as hopefully learn from the experience. We have our first gig this Thursday, the part that follows the traditional BOTB format but as we are about bringing new audiences in we are running two prizes draws.

The first is on the night we will be giving away free cinema tickets courtesy of Empire Cinema. All that attend will be entered into the draw. They will also be entered into a prize draw to win a Make Over / Photography prize, courtesy of Puttyfoot Photography and JJs Hair. That is this Thursday at the 12 Bar from 7.30pm....do come along and tell others.
To give you more details:
Each band has the opportunity to play live sessions for the show, these then are loaded onto the Airborne myspace with any interview carried out. www.frequencyairborne.co.uk
We have had three bands so far and the voting is starting to heat up.
There are 9 bands in total and all of them can be voted for now....it is not a case of having to wait. The bands are:
Band1: Jon Trowbridge
Band2: Arc
Band3: Good Dog
Band4: Flame grilled chinchillas
Band5: Failing to Focus
Band6: Minnesota twins
Band7: Energy Without the Sun
Band8: Julia set
Band9: Sunday dogs
To vote for the one you want to win, all you have to do is text airborne a space and the band number attributed to the above....text this to 83149. SO for example text airborne (space) band1 to 83149.
www.frequencyairborne.co.uk has the link to the terms and conditions of the text voting.
If you don't want to text we have set up online voting via Swindon Music. http://www.swindonmusic.co.uk/airborne
This is a unique battle of the bands and what is great is it is all about showcasing local music, which is why we have partnered with a whole host of organisations:
Create Studios have put up a prize of 5 days in Create's recording studio, with Barry Andrews helping.
Western Computer (Wiltshire's Premier Apple Reseller) has put up a Mac Book Pro with Logic Studio Software
and Media Plant has put up 1000 CDs
The winning band will be awarded the above, a complete recording package.
Frequency Airborne has been created in partnership with Frequency Magazine, Brunel FM, Create Studios, Western Computer, Media Plant, the 12 Bar, SOP Promotions, Swindon Music, Influx Marketing, Empire Cinema, Puttyfoot Photography and JJs Hair.

We are excited by how this has come about and it shows that there are a lot of organisations that are willing to help and support the local creative/arts scenes. We hope it will be an annual event that helps to take local music to new people. So if you can come along it would be great to see you there, it is FREE to get in, as again we want to make sure there are no barriers for people to come along. It will be a great night. Oh and if you do come along why not bring any literature of gigs or events you have on and we can display them for you.

See you there!
