Council TAX..
« on: May 12, 2017, 10:46:52 AM »
I, was informed some time ago, that the make up of our council taxes, includes an amount to cover the amounts that the council didn't collect last year.  I asked the council for confirmation of this fact, and today, after many requests, I have received a reply from the leader, which he states the collection rate o other councils, also says that this council is better than most, but then fails to even answer the question I asked, I was surprised he didn't use his usual quote, 'matter closed', but hey, we all have big pockets to pay off their incompetence...    :WTF:

Well of course it's going to include an amount to cover any shortfall.

Some will be due to people not paying their CT, and some will be due to expected monies not coming in because a household becomes CT exempt or entitled to a discount.  Here's a list of all the different exemptions https://www.swindon.gov.uk/info/20020/council_tax/18/council_tax_exemptions

I can understand if someone is exempt due to disability etc, but if someone fails to pay, then they should be taken to court and the money retracted that way, no way should we have to pay for defaulters.
pay my tax now by direct means and have had it confirmed now that I can pay by cash payment, which I will do in future..

I went to the north Swindon parish meeting last night at the pine trees centre, I was the only member of the public there, which leaves me cold, as these people are dealing with your precept payments and how it is spent  One glaring example of that was they voted to use a council audit firm to do an internal audit, while there another firm who could it, and be around one thousand pounds less.  But as the chairman said this is a one million setup, so that doesn't matter does it, you the public are paying for it.. When it came to talking and voting for staff employment, I was asked to leave, even though I pay the money they are dealing with.  I wonder if they voted on parish payments for  the councillors??  :WTF:

By the way, when I went to the meeting, I discovered, that Mr Monaut, is now a parish councillor for Swindon north parish, this is addition to him being borough councillor parks and parish councillor for eldene and Nythe, is he after the record for the most parish seats held, and is this in any way legal..

Just read in The Adver that Dale Heenan is now in charge of a group to encourage the public to consult with the council.
The hypocricy just beggars belief.

On another topic, I just spent ages trying to get into TalkSwindon. Couldn't get past the tapatalk screen.
That will be why nobody comments on here these days

Makes you wonder just how bad does a councillor need to be to get a fail/reject :crazy2:

I now have written evidence from the council offices, that the non parish precept payment has been reduced to £25.45, and that everybody but everybody in the town is now paying it, I'm now waiting for a reply to the question, where are the non parish areas now in town, and why are we paying for it??? !!! :WTF:
