town cleaning...

In these cash strapped days, the council now wants you as a volunteer to go out and clean up the town,
Never mind that yo have paid a precept charge of at least £48.81p, which goes to the council , so they should be doing the job, but no, do this and then it will be April and then the council can sit back and say the parish isn't doing its job.. they will thebe sitting in their pretty offices, thinking of ways of making the council debt even bigger and nearer to bankruptcy.. :WTF:

Volunteer to clean up the town?
I already tried that a few years back and I asked the council to lend me some equipment to do the job with - what did I get?
When the people of this town volunteer to do the council's work for them, the council should give them proper tools, and provide them on the day they promised.
Has anyone noticed that councillors usually only help out volunteers when they are at the end of their four year period and are looking to be re-elected? No help for any volunteers this year then!
If you mess volunteers about, they're more than likely not to bother.

There were volunteers cleaning up in Lawn woods on Saturday, turns out that there a couple of people who do that on a fairly regular basis, which goes to explain why it always seems reasonably tidy.

It's sad that it has come to this but on the other hand it's good that there are people who are prepared to take the time to do this.
