Parish Precept..
« on: October 08, 2016, 08:38:13 PM »
Hello,
everybody must have read about the parish precept fiasco now being run by SBC..  The parish of Stratton, held a vote on the issue to see if the residents of the area agreed doing the council  work and also the increase in charges for it.  The residents voted against it, and when I ask at a 'consultation' meeting what the council intended to do about the vote, the council official present, told me that the council was talking with the parish and hoped for another vote.  Well in the last few days, SBC, have used the strong arm blackmail, and got the parish councillors to agree to do the work, it will cost the parish around £100,000 that cost will now be spread amongst the residents on top of their current charge of about £135 a year.  The council told the parish that if they didn't agree to do the work then the grass cutting, road sweeping etc would not get done.
In our street, which is next to the parish, the roadway hasn't been swept in about 2 years and the sight of a gully lorry is for the memories.. So what can be done.. just wait the until the new parish precept payment is delivered and then work out how you are going to pay for it..
Did I mention that the non parish precept payment went up this year by 69%.. so when will we get a rebate for work not done..
Utter disgust... :WTF:

if you read my last about the non parish precept and how I asked if I was due a rebate, the day after, a mini road sweeper came around and swept the pavements in our street, he didn't do a very good job, due to the speed he was going at, but you have to laugh at these hypocrites eh.. :WTF:

More clap trap today about how the council tax will have to rise. I trust they can prove this 2% is being spent on 'adult care', or are they using it to ease the debts??. ask your councillor how much the council as paying now in interest payments on the council debt, around 10 million I think, and then ask them to find out, when in April 2018, the council debt is estimated at around 300 million pounds, how much they will be paying  in interest on that amount. This is money that could be used to pay for child care centres, libraries etc etc..

No good closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. The debt is there so the interest payments are unavoidable.

Interest rates are very low at the moment. What happens when they rise?
