water rates..
« on: October 06, 2016, 09:33:47 PM »
Hello, I am being fleeced by thames water at the moment, my monthly rate for the water is £55 per month on a 10 monthly payment table, I am paying that, as they tell me the rate is based solely on your house banding and nothing else, so I would appreciate if someone who also lives in a band d house, can tell me how much they pay each month.
address also would be needed.  Many thanks,   terry.. :knuppel2:

Try this calculator:-

http://www.ccwater.org.uk/watermetercalculator/

There was a consumer watchdog type programme about water charges on TV last week. Can't remember if it was Rip Off Britain or the One Show. Their advice was to get a water meter installed if you have more bedrooms than occupants.

I live in a Band D property in Abbey Meads with my girlfriend. We pay £32.00, but that figure is a bit high because we were in arrears following a water leak which meant that Thames Water stopped taking payments until it was sorted. I reckon about £25 - £30 per month is about right for a couple living in a Band D property with a water meter. Without a water meter, Thames Water will base your water bill on the size of the property and assume 4 - 5 people living there.

Thanks for that, what I cant get my head round, is when I  received my last invoice, it said my rates are based on my house band and it doesn't matter how much or less water I use, so surely in theory, everybody in a band d house should pay the same more or less, and you can see, from my past post, Im paying around £30 a month more than you, and there is only two living here
