Election 2016
« on: May 03, 2016, 07:53:48 PM »
We have an election in 2 days time.

We received a leaflet from Oliver Donachie last week, but haven't heard a peep out of the others.

I have heard of voter apathy, but candidate apathy is a new one.

Our Labour candidates have been busy, can't remember if I've received one from the others.
Oi! Listen mush. Old eyes, remember? I’ve been around the block a few times. More than a few. They’ve knocked down the blocks I’ve been around and rebuilt them as bigger blocks. Super blocks. And I’ve been round them as well.  The Doctor (Night Terrors)

Just realised that we haven't heard anything at all from the PCC candidates. Not one leaflet or manifesto.

I had to go to kettering today, and came back about 3.40. thought it would only take another hour after I hit the a43, but then I got through the chaos at junction 9 on the m40, then drove down the a43, until I got to the wood and the dual carriage way, where you turn left or right, to go to wantage, the traffic was then nose to tail all the way to the white hart roundabout, utter gridlock, and then I drove up grange drive, up around wicks and then onto jewsons round about and it took me 35 minutes to get from there to my house in wheeler ave. utter chaos again, and its made even worse by these people who instead of turning left to go up poplar eve etc, they now just carry on and mingle into the outside lane, Im sure its legal with the road markings etc but it gets me to see them just pushing in and expecting those in the right hand lane to give way all the time.
this forward thinking council, of course are spending millions doing up the greenbridge roundabout, as there is going to much more traffic in the next few years, or when the houses are built on the eastern villages etc, but the rest can just go to hell and lump it.. some forward thinking, hope some of those in the queues today and everyday, put pen to paper when they vote and get this lot out..

Terry,

The problem with voting this lot OUT is having to vote someone else IN.

None of them have bothered to tell me why I should vote for them. Here is my choice:-

AGOSTINO Michelle Jean - Labour - Never heard of her. No information received.
DONACHIE Oliver - Conservative - Heard of him but don't particularly like him. Election leaflet received.
FRANCIS Andrew - Green Party - Never heard of him. No information received.
GERRARD Ed - UKIP - Never heard of him. No information received.
MISTRY Margaret - Liberal - Never heard of her. No information received.

Based on this information, there are only two intelligent options - Vote Tory or have a lie in and don't bother voting at all.

I was trying to remember what leaflets I had, I know I've Labour ones, because I read  them to see if I approved and one managed to get upstairs and not thrown away, so I notice it daily, then I had another yesterday, plus I know they've been out on the streets here - Saturdays mostly.

It's quite interesting now as Penhill is in with Upper Stratton, so if Penhill doesn't turn out we will get whoever Stratton picks for us.

It's amazing over on facebook - the reasons for not bothering to vote - no excuse in my book.  Truth probably is, they can't be bothered with getting there brains round the policies and records and they are quite happy to let someone else choose for them.

Fact is, I had a family member like that -  maybe it's a lack of confidence in ones own ability to make such an important decision or it's not cool!

well that donachie is of the haydon parish clan so he is in it for good reasons eh, if they cut out the priory vale councillors and let the haydon wick ones do the job, then hell be out of a job..
penhill had a good man in paul baker but kicked him out, so don't know who will take the place, the startton amn is Holland  and he is on record was giving the bus company 2 million of tax payers money to keep it viable..
the choice is yours.. here in goreshill we have a choice between the man from priory vale who pays less council tax then GH residents, or the labour  duo who never reply to emails about anything and yet when it effects them, out they jump..
have a good day, and take care, terry..
