Opposition or what..
« on: April 30, 2015, 09:52:37 AM »
I went to the scrutiny meeting this week on Monday, this is the committee that debates what was decided , at the cabinet meeting, which took place last week, there they debated the budget of the council and amidst a lot of back slappping, not a lot was said, not a word about the near 300 million projected debt that the council is ever rolling on to in 2018.  No mention on how they plan to tackle this debt and what it means to tax payers of the town.

Forward to this weeks scrutiny meeting, I think it was mentioned, more back slappping, but again not one word about that debt and its consequencies to the tax payer.  You might even ask what is the purpose of scrutiny if they do not tackle such problems as this, on a regular basis.  If you wanted to be really cynical, you might even ask who is eating at whose house these days...   :WTF:

Haven't you noticed that as soon as it became more generally known that Cllrs are under no obligation to discuss what they do, or don't do, with Joe and Josephine public they, (the cllrs), have all but vanished from every level of social media?

In every other pre-election period the www has been virtually, (geggit? :) ), seething with political incumbents and wannabees but 2015 their almost complete absence is noticeable.  One could be forgiven for thinking that the both sides of the ilk have finally realised that staying in the Euclid Street bunker is the best way to sustain the cosiness of the status quo.

I'm not complaining.  I'm enjoying the peace and quiet :)
